The Gift Chapter 3

“Silence it softens the earth but the earth like human-kind will shaketh again, and rebirth shall create again.”

Justafa replied back to David – “Is this is what is to befall of the test given this time?”

David replied: “I remind thee, ask not of the will, but let it be done!”

Justafa nodded, “this I understand, but now that thou hast appointed me speaker of them all, it is upon me to respond as one. It has become as a sound of the pussy-willows tossing back and forth upon the wind that bloweth to and fro. It is not the commonality of peace and serenity.”

David replied: “It is because thou art not yet known to thy new position, thy load will lessen with the passing.”

“I feel this not to come to pass. There is a great congestion amongst the commonality and even if I was not in a position of newness the tarriance would still be felt.”

David did not speak for a moment. He knew that what “Justafa” sensed and said was true. For being and angel set upon by God in high regard did not set him higher among the other angels. He still sensed what was and is the commonality of all yet; he was a leader, and he could not allow the bond to be broken.

“Thus, the thought of division is upon the commonality and upon it you shall continue to build the will of the Father, upon this, I speaketh it to you and let it be felt throughout Justafa. Now until the will be gone.”

Justafa looked directly into David’s eyes as he spoke these words and nodded his head and said – “I am wise to thee and unto thy words I depart with love for thee and love is once again delivered among the commonality.” Justafa spread his wings and then enveloped himself into them and then he was gone.

David shed a tear and prayed: “It is the love that contains us all. The end and the everlasting and the beginning shall all be revealed and set us upon the fruits of thy will forever—Amen.”

While at work Phillip felt his workday end as soon as it had begun. He couldn’t recall a day when he felt like this at work. Usually, his work days seem to go on forever, especially the morning, that had always been the worse part of his workday just getting through the morning.

Phillip worked at a multidisciplinary medical practice, specializing in physical therapy, chiropractic medicine, holistic and traditional medicine meaning that there was always a medical doctor and a physician’s assistant on board. So it was a very busy practice, and Phillip worked in the billing department as one of the accounts managers, dealing with insurance companies and working directly with some patients to discuss any questions or matters of concerns regarding their insurance billing. He would never leave his office feeling very fulfilled. It was just a job. It paid the bills, and he knew his business, and he could be a terror on the phone dealing with insurance companies, and he knew when and how to schmooze a patient and insurance carrier to bring his accounts up to date.

It was different today. It seemed that everyone that he talked to or had an encounter with in the office was like a newness that he had never felt. It was like child’s play. He likened it to when he was a kid playing outside with his friends on a Saturday morning, and you knew that you had the whole weekend ahead of you and school seemed millions of miles away.

He hadn’t felt like this in quiet, some time and after all, it had been some time since he had been a child and yet here he was this day feeling like a child. It amazed him. It went beyond amazement. The feeling was heavenly!!! Phillip thought to himself now that was a word that he hadn’t used or thought of in a long time.

Everyone in the office noticed Phillip’s new demeanor at work today, and he knew that too. He just smiled and finished his day with a gusto that made him know that the work day held more than just a paycheck.

“What are your plans for the weekend?” Kim asked him.

“I will probably catch a movie with my friends and then probably go out dancing and enjoy a walk in the sun.”

“A walk in the sun!” Kim replied in surprise.

“Yes haven’t you ever just needed a walk in the brightest, most brilliant wonders of nature that not only shines in the day but also illuminates the night…”

“Illuminates the night!” Kim spun all the way around in her chair and looked at Phillip. “What are you on today?”

“Just high on life, I guess,” Phillip replied. And then thought to himself, high on life! What am I saying!

“Whatever!” Kim said sarcastically. “Have a good weekend.”

Phillip nodded his head and said, “Thanks, you too.”

Phillip walked out the door, and when he got to the elevator banks, he thought to himself – what in the world were those words coming out of my mouth. – “Illuminate the night!” He giggled to himself. Whatever he thought! He just chalked it up to his just feeling so good inside.

He got onto the elevator smiling and of course he still didn’t know why he was smiling. He looked around at the other humans on the elevator and knowing and wondering both at the same time about where they were going and what they were feeling and why they were feeling. It was like he knew them all and yet he didn’t know how he could know this. And he also wondered why for that instance he thought of them as humans and not just as people like himself.

As he exited the elevator, he felt this overwhelming need to tell each and every person on the elevator to have a beautiful and wonderful weekend and even though he thought that they would have looked at him as though he were a nut for a moment that didn’t concern him. He just felt this overwhelming need to love and comfort them.

“I need a drink!” He thought to himself as he walked out the revolving door out onto the busy streets of the city.

Lest ye wait longer the day will not create anew, fly away on I say to thee and be reborn. Torcelli looked on as the lion that she reached for to comfort had been led on into the circle to be created again.

Torcelli blinked on to the next animal in her charge and in her shimmer, David passed through her.

“It has begun has it not?” Torcelli spoke to David.

“Ripples they continue to become. It is how we pass between me and thee in your shimmer to your next charge. Fear not to question. The time is close at hand, continue on thy way for the Father’s work is still to be done.” David replied. And in a flash, Torcelli stood between a wolf and a lamb.

Torcelli waved her hand to the sheep, to show him the way back to his flock and his master. And as the wolf became blinded by the bright light that was emanating from Torcelli, he lifted up his head to the sky and let out a howl, and the wolf continued to howl into the cold dark night.

As Phillip was about to cross the street to go downtown to get a drink at his favorite local bar, he heard someone scream and as he turned to look around he saw a lot of people gathering and others pushing to see what was happening. He cautiously walked over and looked and asked someone what was going on. Someone yelled out “I think that she is having a heart attack!”

He heard people yelling out someone call 911! Other people screaming does anyone know CPR! As the others watched while this woman lay on the concrete pulling at her chest, Phillip ran to her side, took off his blazer, and put it under her already blood stained head which had apparently happened when she fell while grabbing at her chest. Phillip
was on his knee’s reassuring her that everything would be alright. In the distance, Phillip heard what sounded like a barrage of sirens which in a city like New York was not uncommon but in this case he hoped that it was coming to aid this woman.

As he continued to kneel there comforting the woman, all of a sudden everything became silent around him. He watched as the emergency medical technicians got out of the ambulance with their medical equipment and ran over to the woman, he quickly turned around and watched the crowd continue to gather, but he still didn’t hear a sound. He did, however, hear the woman breathing, and as her breathing started to become shallow and shallower he heard it come to a full stop!

Then he heard or at least he thought he heard her heart, and it was rhythmic. Not only could he hear it, he felt as if it was passing through him. He felt himself breath and then all of a sudden all the noise and combustion and sounds that were going on around him came back into his ears and as if by instinct he said, “The air here on earth is no longer breathable for her!”

The medical tech’s continued administering CPR and injecting needles into her veins and Phillip repeated but louder, “The air here on earth is no longer breathable for her!”

No one seemed to hear him or to care what he was saying. After all, it was New York, and they probably thought that he was just another “nut” in the Big Apple.

“Sir thank you for your assistance, but we have to get her into the ambulance now.” One of the medical techs said to him.

They hoisted the woman up onto the stretcher, lifted it up, put her in the ambulance and with lights blaring and sirens blasting, they sped away. As the crowd began to disperse and go on about these separate lives, Phillip felt himself stand up, and he could not believe what he had been a part of and knew! And he wondered to himself – What does it mean: “The air here on earth is no longer breathable!” Deep down in his heart and his mind he knew! He just didn’t know exactly how that he knew.

Phillip managed to carry his exhausted body to the edge of the sidewalk and put his hand up and out. He was able to get a taxi quickly which was surprising it was still around rush hour.

He got in, closed the door and told the cabbie that he was going to New Jersey, Montclair NJ he said. The cabbie gave him the usual speech about the fare and toll and Phillip just nodded his head and reached into his wallet and just handed him $55.00 without even thinking, something that he would never do under ordinary circumstances but these were not ordinary circumstances.

“Please…just drive!” Phillip said to the cabbie.

The ride home left Phillip in a haze. Thoughts raced through his head, and he chose not to stay inside his head for fear of taking up residency there. Instead, he chose to hear all the sounds around him. He heard the radio, other cars and trucks zooming by, car horns beeping and blowing, the road underneath bumping and skidding ever so slightly and then he began to allow thoughts to come back into his head. He heard the cabbies voice say:

“7 Roosevelt Place, this is it.”

Phillip thanked the cabbie, opened the car door, and walked up to his apartment building. He unlocked the door to his building and walked down the hall to his apartment, put his key into the door, opened it, and walked in and closed it behind him. He then went directly into the bathroom, turned on the light, and stood there looking at himself in the mirror.
